Sexo Con Animales

It's simply amazing how much volume of SERP referrals I get on foreign language sex keywords. The title (Sexo Con Animales) was user generated content that appeared on one of my website and now receives 1000 Google referrals per day. You are all sick and I'm making money from it ;-)

Here's a list of high volume search referral keywords that I'm plucked from my Analytics.

and the list goes on-and-on.

Summer Webvertising Blues

It kicks around June 1st every year. My AdSense earnings tumble for the 3 months of summer. This year, my last good day was May 25th. Last year, I did well till June 19th. Anybody else have a major drop in earnings during the summer?

May was my 2nd best FeedBurner FAN month and with the number of ads I'm approving right now, I suspect that June will actually be better. That might be partially related to the Google acquisition. FeedBurner earnings typically build up over the month, as advertisers tend to create campaigns that end at month's end.

BlogAds has mostly been silent. I think I've made $20 over the last 2 months. I just can't figure out BlogAds. I've heard some people make good money with it, but I can't seem to make enough to justify the effort.

Overall, not a great month.

Typo Bloggers
I think most bloggers try too hard. They spend so much time trying to make their blogs perfect, that they don't write any content. I think typo squatters are the perfect example of just how easy it is. By failing to typo check your blog entries, you may even be improving your referrals. I'm serious about this. Just get 1000 monkeys to write 1000 blog entries each and you'll be rich, it's just that easy.

Perseverance of Blogging

A frequent conversation in my life is how I make enough money to be a professional blogger. Most people think that I'm writing these compelling blog entries that others line-up to read. This is entirely untrue. My strategy is quite simple. I write a lot of crap. Quite often, the most ridiculously simply blog entries make me the most money. I once blogged about the Pittsburgh Penguins winning the Sidney Crosby lottery. The blog entry was 100% quoted text. I made $100s from that one blog entry.

I now have thousands, possibly tens of thousands of blogs entries across dozens of blogs. Each has ads in the sidebar. Each is properly indexed in Google. It took me years to write all this stuff, but I did it and now I get to enjoy the fruits of all that hard work. It was 15 minutes per day when I started. Then I increased it to 15 minutes, 6 times per day. Now I do it all day all-the-time.

Finding stuff to blog about isn't hard. I read about 700 feeds. I get 1000s of user comments per day. It's pretty easy to find some interesting crap in there somewhere. It's really just a matter of discipline. If you do it, 15 minutes per day, then in 3-4 years, you'll have a second income too.

That's the frequent conversation. It's really rare that the person I have this conversation with commits to blog everyday. Sometimes, they blog 2-3 days in-a-row before giving up. Sometimes, they blog a dozen times in a month before giving up. It's about perseverance. Fifteen minutes a day means 50-200 blog entries per month. A thousand per year.

In my first two years of blogging, I think I made less than $100 total. Being an idiot, I stuck with this absolutely pointless hobby.

Three Link Units

Google has boosted the number of AdSense ad link units you can put a webpage from 1 to 3. This means you can now put 3 link units, 3 regular units and one referral unit per product. I think I'll spend a few moments tomorrow adding more links units throughout my sites.
