Yahoo! Site Explorer now includes site management functionality very similar to Google sitemap. You can submit all your RSS feeds to Yahoo! for quicker and more complete inclusion in the Yahoo! index.

I'm currently stuck at 1 page indexed in Yahoo! for the kbcafe.com domain. I'll report back on any progress in getting better indexed.

Bidvertiser Really Sucks!

Bidvertiser now has a referral program. I tried putting their Javascript-based referral code on this blog, but it caused my blog to stop loading. I was going to write about their new referral program, but when the Javascript hung my blog, I changed the title from Bidvertiser Referral Program to its current title. How do these ad-platforms survive with such crapulent service?

A few days ago, I got the following email from a reader.

Why are all the ads on your site related to sex? It really cheapens your site. I can't even read a programming blog when my kids are around.

He didn't mention which blog, but I assume it's my C# blog. A quick peek showed very explicit sex related ads in my AdBrite ad unit. Did I approve sex related ads? I went to AdBrite's Manage Ad Zones and discovered that I didn't have any zones at all. Not only were they running sex related ads, but I couldn't manage the ad zone to block the ads. I assume this is the same bug that is allowing sex ads to be run on my site, in the first place. I quickly deleted the AdBrite code from all my blogs and websites. If you find any I've missed, please ping me. This is not the first time AdBrite ran ads that I didn't approve. In fact, they've also stopped running ads at times. This is a warning for anybody that is thinking about trying AdBrite. Don't do it. AdBrite sucks! It's been a constant mess of scares.

Reporting on Google Base

Search Engine Watch: The Google Base Blog announced that Google Base has been tracking clicks and impressions since early June. They are now displaying that data to merchants.

How to get banned from AdSense?

The best way to get banned from Google's AdSense is to be stupid. Today, I found two perfect examples of people just being plain dumb and risking their AdSense account. The first was from an online forum.

I do admit I had clicked on a few links, merely because they were of interest of me and my line of work, however there were far more clicks and impressions that did not come from me. I put adsense on my site about 3 weeks ago, and in that time, about $18 was generated from it. On the occaisions I did click, I checked, and google rightly did not have a value on those clicks.

A simple review of the AdSense policies and terms or e-mail to the Google AdSense support team would have revealed where their stupidity was headed. Before you do anything, read the policies and terms. If you're not certain, then send the AdSense team an email, they almost always respond within a couple days.

Recently, I was sent a link that described a common fallacy in the SEO world. The fallacy is that having identical pages in the www. subdomain and non-www subdomain will get you penalized in Google's index. This is malarkey. In fact, Google even provides a mechanism via Google sitemap to tell them which you'd prefer they index.
